Description: | This phlebotomy training program has been approved by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians for students who wish to pursue a career in the phlebotomist medical field. Upon completion of this program, students will have the opportunity to take the national phlebotomy board exam to receive certification as a full-time, nationally certified phlebotomist. Spread over the course of 10 weeks, this phlebotomy training program is accommodating to students who live busier lives. Class meets once a week, but these classes are 4.5 hours long, with half of that time being for lectures, and the other half being for lab studies. Upon completion of the required lab and lecture hours, students are required to complete one to two weeks of clinical externship at an approved facility. Students will learn how to draw blood, interact with patients of varying moods and ages, collect tissue samples, process bloodwork data, and keep well-organized records of patient histories and health. |
