Description: | The Hawaii Institute of Healthcare & Training Services offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program that is unique in providing graduates with minimal classroom lecture and maximum hands-on lab work. Students are expected to complete fifty hours of intensive phlebotomy studies, and an optional 40-hour externship is offered for those seeking to further their hands-on knowledge after graduation. Under the cautious, knowledgeable, professional tutelage of a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, students will learn how to draw blood, safely, from fellow students and volunteers. Prospective phlebotomists are encouraged to enlist the help of family and friends who want to come down to the training center as volunteers. Upon completion of the required lab work, classroom lectures, and 30 blood draws, students will receive certification as full-fledged phlebotomists. |

Description: | This Hawaiian Phlebotomy Training Program has been nationally approved to meet the needs and requirements of phlebotomists-to-be who are seeking career certification and validation. Students will through a two-parter training program, beginning with 64 evening hours of classroom lectures. These classroom lectures are accommodating, taking place Monday through Thursday, and last a total of 4 hour per class. To advance to the second part of this Phlebotomy Training Program, students must achieve a classroom percentage of at least 74 percent. From there, phlebotomists-to-be will advance to 100 daytime hours of clinical practice. This involves an externship at a pre-approved clinic, outpatient service center, or hospital. There are no weekends or evenings required, unless otherwise stated by the clinical trainer. Upon completion of the 164 required hours of training, program graduates are eligible to take the certification exam. This national exam, if passed successfully, graduates will become full-fledged phlebotomists, capable of working in national clinics, hospitals, care centers, nursing homes, and emergency rooms. |

Description: | With a student to teacher ratio of 12 to 1, this Phlebotomy Training Program is unique, as students get one-on-one training and personal attention to better their chances of passing the national certification exam.
