This course is designed to prepare phlebotomists-to-be for the national phlebotomy certification exam. Passing this exam would allow new phlebotomists to have their choice of work environments, including hospitals, blood banks, nursing homes, and other reputable medical centers.

After learning the basics of phlebotomy, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and interpersonal patient communication, students will be expected to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge and experience by performing 30 live, successful venipunctures. These venipunctures are unassisted, but supervised. Upon graduation, graduate are offered externships for hands-on clinical practice at approved, local medical facilities.
