Developing keen knowledge on the basics of phlebotomy is essential to becoming a good phlebotomist. With this in mind, Nebraska Methodist College uses a segmented curriculum to give students the benefits of classroom lectures, lab studies, and clinical practices. There are two version of this phlebotomy training program. The first is an accelerated course, spanning 5 to 6 weeks of on-campus studies and clinical rotations in an approved, local medical facility.

The second option is a non-accelerated phlebotomy training course, consisting of 9 weeks of the same on-campus learning and clinical trials. The only difference is the time and speed of learned materials. To earn a completion certificate for this phlebotomy training program, students must complete 180 clock hours of phlebotomy experience.

Upon completion, phlebotomists-to-be are eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology certification exam. Passing this exam enables graduates to be titled Certified Phlebotomy Technicians, capable of acquiring a professional position at nationwide medical facilities.
