The College of Nevada offers a comprehensive phlebotomy training program, designed to provide an optimum learning experience for students wishing to break into a solid medical profession. Students will participate in hands-on clinical practice, on-campus lectures, lab studies, and take-home writing and reading assignments. This class, as a whole, teaches phlebotomists-to-be the basics of medical terminology, human anatomy as it applies to phlebotomy, bloodwork processing and transportation, infection control, upkeep of patient health records, and specimen collection techniques.

Working and learning under the supervision of professional phlebotomists and long-time healthcare providers, students are required to demonstrate their knowledge of phlebotomy. They will perform venipunctures, skin punctures, blood culture collections, and a plethora of other laboratory tests. To earn a Certification of Completion, students must complete three courses, consisting of lecture, labs, and 120 hours of hands-on practicum at a local, approved healthcare facility.

Completion of this course qualifies graduates to sit for the Nevada licensure and national phlebotomy certification exam.
