At Southwest Tennessee Community College, they offer a 20 credit hour Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician program. This technical certificate course spans a two semester period, wherein during the first semester you are going to take up MLT 1500 (phlebotomy) and MLT (Orientation to Medical Laboratory). By the second semester, you will be taking two subjects - the MLT 1570 (Phlebotomy Clinical Assignment) and MLT 1550 (Phlebotomy Seminar).

The total cost of the program can vary from $400 to $800 which would include the cost of licensure fees, certification, graduation, immunizations, alb tests, physical exam, duty shoes, and uniform.

As a prerequisite for enrollment in the program, background checks are needed. There will be cases where an affiliated clinical site may not allow your presence in their site based on your background check, which would result in the possibility of you not being able to finish the said program’s requirements. There are some facilities who would designate a given criminal background check vendor aside from the one being used by the school, thus all costs will be shouldered by the student.
