Description:

The phlebotomy technician course offered by Mountainland Applied Technology College (MLATC) only takes up five weeks of instructions from Mondays to Thursdays and from 6 to 9 in the evening. We train students to become phlebotomists and teach them the most efficient and correct manner of blood collection. The phlebotomy student will likewise be instructed on the appropriate laboratory administrative work protocols.

Among the various skills that the phlebotomy student will be trained in are:
• Finger sticks
• Hematocrits
• IV placement
• Needle to syringe method
• Venipunctures
• Urinalysis

There are a few prerequisites that need to be met to enroll in MLATC’s Phlebotomy course which include a current BLS for healthcare provider card before the beginning of the course date and the applicant must also be at least 18 years of age. At Davis Applied Technology College, you can earn a Phlebotomy Technician Certification and be able to work in the medical field. As a student of the Phlebotomy program, you will be honed with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to become an exemplary phlebotomist. A phlebotomy technician is an important part of the medical team. They are trained medical professionals who collect blood from patients through safe and approved phlebotomy techniques. Laboratory support and patient care are also among the responsibilities of phlebotomy technicians.

At Tooele Applied Technology College (TATC), we offer a Phlebotomy course program consisting of 275 hours. The cost of the course runs between 450$ to 500$. As a certified phlebotomist, you can expect to earn wages around $10.64 - $12.76 hourly. In order to be a certified phlebotomist, you must be at least 18 years old and have successfully finished the phlebotomy course.

Further, the requirements of TATC are: a recommended Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) score of 11th grade level in reading comprehension and 8th grade level for math. In order to be admitted for enrollment into the program, the applicant must furnish his or her immunization records, TB tests, and must be at least 16 years of age at time of training.
